The Dell PowerEdge R930 is a 4U rack server populated with four Intel Xeon E7-8890 v4 processors running at 2.2 GHz, each providing 24 cores for a total of 96 cores. It ships with 3 TB of DDR4 registered ECC memory across 96 DIMM slots, expandable to 12 TB. The platform targets enterprise workloads such as in-memory databases, large-scale virtualization, and ERP systems that demand maximum core count and memory capacity in a single chassis.

Storage and I/O foundation

A Dell PERC H730P 2 GB SAS/SATA controller with battery backup manages RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50, and 60 across four included 2.5-inch drive trays. The chassis supports up to 24 hot-plug SAS/SATA drives and eight front-accessible NVMe PCIe SSDs for high-throughput storage tiers. Network connectivity is supplied by an Intel X520/I350 daughter card delivering two 1 GbE and two 10 GbE SFP+ ports, while iDRAC 8 Enterprise provides dedicated remote management.

Power and thermal envelope

Four 1100 W 80+ Platinum power supplies deliver redundant power for the fully populated configuration. The 4U form factor accommodates the thermal load of four 24-core processors and a full complement of memory modules under sustained enterprise workloads.
