Dense four-socket compute platform

The Dell PowerEdge R930 is a 4U rack server equipped with four Intel Xeon E7-8891 v4 processors, each running at 2.8 GHz with 10 cores. It ships with 3 TB of DDR4 2400 MHz registered ECC memory across 96 slots, expandable to 12 TB. This configuration targets organisations running large in-memory databases, heavy virtualisation or analytics workloads that demand maximum core count and memory capacity in a single chassis.

24-bay storage and quad-port networking

The server includes a Dell PERC H730P 2 GB controller supporting RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60, driving 24 front-accessible 2.5-inch 1.8 TB 10K SAS drives. An Intel X520/I350 daughter card adds two 1 GbE and two 10 Gb SFP+ ports for flexible network connectivity. iDRAC 8 Enterprise provides remote management and agent-free provisioning. The chassis uses LGA 2011 sockets and the Intel C602J chipset; builders must supply compatible CPUs and memory for any expansion beyond the factory-populated 96 DIMM slots.

Redundant platinum power and managed cooling

Four 1100 W 80+ Platinum power supplies deliver full redundancy for the 40-core processor complex, 3 TB memory array and 24 spinning drives. The 4U form factor allows Dell's engineered airflow to cool the dense component layout under sustained load. Acoustic output is typical for a data-centre 4U server and requires a rack environment with adequate cold-aisle supply; it is not suited for office or quiet-room deployment.
