The Dell PowerEdge T440 is a 5U tower server configured with two Intel Xeon Gold 5120 processors running at 2.2GHz with 3.2GHz turbo. Fourteen cores per processor and 128GB of DDR4 ECC registered memory provide the compute density for virtualization, database hosting and business-critical workloads. The PERC H730P controller with 2GB cache manages RAID arrays across up to sixteen 2.5-inch hot-swap bays. Dual 750 watt platinum power supplies deliver redundant power.

Verify Rack Space and Drive Trays

This unit requires a 5U rack opening or floor space for tower orientation; the front bezel and ready rails are not included. Only four 2.5-inch drive trays are supplied, so additional trays must be sourced to populate the remaining twelve bays. Confirm that your infrastructure provides 1GbE network connectivity and that the iDRAC 9 Express remote management interface meets your monitoring requirements. The LGA 3647 socket is fully populated with the maximum of two processors.

Expand Storage and Add Expansion Cards

Sixteen 2.5-inch bays accept SAS, SATA and SSD media, allowing large local storage pools for virtual machines, databases or backup targets. The H730P supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 plus pass-through mode for software-defined storage. PCI Express slots remain available for additional RAID controllers, network adapters or GPU accelerators. Twelve DIMM slots are free to grow memory toward the 1TB maximum using DDR4-2400 ECC registered modules.
