Dual Xeon Silver 4110 5U server

This new Dell PowerEdge T440 is a 5U rack server equipped with two Intel Xeon Silver 4110 processors running at 2.1 GHz with a 3.0 GHz turbo frequency. Each CPU provides eight cores for a total of sixteen cores and 64 GB of DDR4-2400 ECC registered memory installed across four slots. The system supports up to 1 TB of memory across sixteen DIMM slots and uses an LGA 3647 socket platform. It targets virtualization, database hosting, file storage, backup, software-defined storage and business-critical applications.

HBA330 controller with sixteen drive bays

The integrated Dell PERC HBA330 12 Gb/s SAS/SATA storage controller provides direct drive connectivity without RAID abstraction. Sixteen 2.5-inch hot-swap drive bays are available, though only eight drive trays are included with the unit. Dual-port Gigabit Ethernet and iDRAC 9 Express remote management are built in. Two 750 W platinum-efficiency hot-swap power supplies deliver redundant power. The front bezel and ready rails are not included.

Check power cords and rack mounting

Verify that your facility can supply the correct IEC power cords for the two 750 W supplies. If you intend to mount the chassis in a standard rack, you must source a compatible rack conversion kit and rails separately. Confirm that your operating system and hypervisor support the HBA330 controller in non-RAID mode. Ensure you have enough 2.5-inch drive trays for the number of drives you plan to install.
