Server Overview

The Dell PowerEdge T440 is a 5U enterprise server built for virtualisation, database hosting and software-defined storage workloads. It ships with two Intel Xeon Silver 4214 processors running at 2.2 GHz with a 3.2 GHz turbo frequency and 12 cores each. The system includes 128 GB of DDR4-2400 ECC registered memory across four 32 GB modules and a Dell PERC HBA330 storage controller. Dual 750 W platinum power supplies provide redundant hot-swap power.

Compatibility Check

Verify that your rack or floor space accommodates a 5U tower form factor and that you have the optional rack conversion kit if rack mounting is required. Confirm your operating system and hypervisor support Intel Xeon Scalable processors and DDR4 ECC registered memory. Ensure you have 2.5-inch SAS or SATA drives ready, as no drives are installed and only four drive trays are included for the sixteen available hot-swap bays.

Build Integration

The server provides sixteen 2.5-inch hot-swap drive bays for SAS, SATA and SSD storage expansion beyond the four included trays. PCI Express slots allow adding RAID controllers, additional networking, GPUs or other expansion cards. Integrated dual-port Gigabit Ethernet and iDRAC 9 Express remote management handle baseline connectivity and out-of-band administration. The LGA 3647 sockets support a maximum of two processors, which are already populated.
