This HP ProLiant DL160 Gen9 is a single-socket 1U rack server built around a six-core Intel Xeon E5-2603 v3 running at 1.6 GHz. It ships with 32 GB of DDR4 memory installed across 16 DIMM slots and includes a B140i software RAID controller. The chassis provides eight 2.5-inch SFF drive bays and a redundant 550 W hot-swap power supply.

Suited for SATA-only storage arrays

The B140i controller supports RAID 0, 1 and 5 but only with SATA drives, so the system fits workloads that can run on SATA SSDs or HDDs. Buyers who need hardware RAID, SAS connectivity or a second processor should look elsewhere. The Matrox G200 graphics with 16 MB video memory covers basic console output only.

Eight 2.5-inch SFF drive bays

The front panel holds eight small-form-factor bays that accept 2.5-inch SATA drives. Only two drive trays with screws are included, so additional trays are required to populate the remaining slots. No optical drive or operating system is supplied.
