The HP ProLiant DL160 Gen9 is a 1U rack server built for general-purpose and cloud workloads. It ships with a single Intel Xeon E5-2650 v3 ten-core processor running at 2.3GHz and 20 threads via hyper-threading. A second processor socket is available for expansion up to 36 total cores. The system includes 8GB of DDR4 ECC registered memory across 16 DIMM slots.

Memory scales to 1TB using DDR4 modules up to 2400MT/s across 16 slots, eight per processor. The installed 8GB configuration leaves ample headroom for virtualisation or database growth. Storage begins with two 146GB 15K 6Gbps 2.5-inch SAS drives. Eight SFF bays accept additional SAS or SATA drives, and the H240 controller supports RAID 0, 1 and 5 for redundancy or capacity.

H240 12Gb SAS and 6Gb SATA interface

The Smart HBA H240 provides a 12Gbps SAS and 6Gbps SATA interface to the drive backplane. This bandwidth caps throughput for the 15K SAS drives and any SATA SSDs added later. The Matrox G200 graphics output is limited to management console use. A 550W redundant hot-swap power supply supports the configured components and a second processor if added.
