Compact 1U server with dual Xeon E5-2640 v3

The HP ProLiant DL360 Gen9 fits two eight-core Xeon E5-2640 v3 processors running at 2.6 GHz into a single rack unit. It ships with 8 GB of DDR4 ECC registered memory across 24 DIMM slots and two 600 GB 15 000 rpm 3.5-inch SAS drives. Redundant hot-swap 500 W power supplies are included for continuous operation.

H240ar controller enables RAID flexibility

The Smart HBA H240ar provides 12 Gb SAS and 6 Gb SATA connectivity with support for RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60. This allows the two installed drives to be mirrored for redundancy or combined for capacity, and additional 3.5-inch bays can be populated later without changing the controller.

DDR4 memory ceiling limits large datasets

Although the platform specifies up to 3 TB of DDR4 across 24 slots, the installed processors restrict practical memory speed to 2 400 MT/s and the current configuration provides only 8 GB. Workloads that require more than a few hundred gigabytes of RAM will need additional modules and a processor upgrade to reach the platform maximum.
