Dense 1U rack server for space-constrained workloads

The HP ProLiant DL360 Gen9 packs compute density into a single rack unit. A single Intel Xeon E5-2643v3 six-core processor running at 3.4 GHz delivers 12 virtual cores with hyperthreading. Thirty-two gigabytes of DDR4 ECC registered memory occupy two of 24 DIMM slots. The Smart HBA H240ar controller manages two 4 TB SAS drives in four large-form-factor bays with RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 support.

Redundant power and integrated graphics

Dual 500 W hot-swap power supplies provide full redundancy for continuous operation. The Matrox G200 graphics adapter handles basic console output without occupying a PCIe slot. No SSD or optical drive is installed, leaving the remaining two 3.5-inch bays available for future expansion. The Intel C610 chipset supports a second processor to reach a maximum of 36 total cores and 3 TB of memory when fully populated.

Single six-core Xeon limits maximum core count

With only one E5-2643v3 installed, the system tops out at six physical cores and 12 threads, well below the dual-processor ceiling of 36 cores. Memory is capped at 32 GB until additional DIMMs are added, and the four LFF bays restrict storage density compared to small-form-factor configurations. Buyers needing higher core counts, larger memory footprints or more drive bays in 1U should evaluate dual-socket or SFF alternatives.
