SAS 6Gbps interface limits throughput per drive

The installed 146GB 15K drives and the Smart Array P440 controller operate at 6Gbps SAS, so each drive tops out around 600MB/s regardless of the controller's 12Gbps capability. RAID levels 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 are supported, but rebuild times on 15K media can stretch to hours when a large array degrades.
