Forty-eight gigabytes of DDR4 ECC registered memory occupy 24 DIMM slots, leaving room for expansion up to the platform maximum. Two 146 GB 15 K SAS drives provide high-speed local storage for databases or virtualisation hosts that need low latency.

RAID controller and redundant power

The Smart Array P440 with 4 GB flash-backed write cache accelerates RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 without risking data loss during power interruptions. Dual 500 W hot-swap power supplies keep the system running if one unit fails or needs replacement. The Matrox G200eH2 graphics core handles basic console output without consuming a PCIe slot.

Tool-less installation and common pitfalls

Tool-less rails and hot-swap drive carriers let technicians add or replace components while the server stays online. Memory population rules require matching DIMMs per channel; mixing capacities across the twelve slots per processor can reduce speed below 2400 MT/s. The chassis accepts up to 24 SFF bays, but rear cage kits are not included and must be sourced separately for densities beyond the front bays.
