2U Rack Server for Virtualisation Workloads

The HP ProLiant DL380 Gen9 is a 2U rack server built around a single Intel Xeon E5-2670 v3 processor with twelve cores at 2.3 GHz. Four gigabytes of DDR4 ECC memory and two 600 GB 15 K SAS drives are installed. The Smart HBA H240ar controller supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60. Redundant 500 W hot-swap power supplies are included.

Upgrade from Single-Socket or Smaller Form Factors

This unit replaces a tower server or a 1U system when more drive bays and memory slots are required. The jump is worth it when workloads need up to twenty-four DDR4 DIMM slots and eight 2.5-inch SAS bays with hardware RAID. A second Xeon processor can be added later to double core count and memory channels.

Capacity and Headroom for Growing Databases

The chassis holds eight SFF drives; two 600 GB 15 K SAS units are fitted, leaving six bays free for capacity expansion. Memory scales to 3 TB across twenty-four slots using DDR4 ECC registered modules up to 2400 MT/s. The Matrox G200eH2 graphics controller provides basic console output only.
