Its 256 GB of DDR4 ECC registered memory supports virtualisation clusters and database workloads that need high core counts and error-correcting RAM. The four 3.5-inch drive bays accept SATA or SAS media through the onboard P440 controller, while dual 500 W flex-slot power supplies provide redundancy. Remote management is handled by HPE iLO Advanced.

Sustained-load behaviour

Under continuous multi-threaded load the dual eight-core CPUs maintain their 2.6 GHz base frequency without thermal throttling, thanks to the 1U airflow design and redundant 500 W power modules. The P440 SAS controller keeps RAID arrays consistent during long rebuilds, and ECC memory corrects single-bit errors in real time so databases stay online. Dual 10 GbE and dual 1 GbE ports sustain high-throughput east-west traffic without saturating a single link.

Pre-order checklist

Confirm your rack provides a 1U space with front-to-rear airflow and that the 36-inch depth clears cable managers and PDUs. Verify the facility can deliver two independent 500 W feeds to match the redundant power supplies. Plan storage separately — no drives are included — and ensure any SATA or SAS disks you add are compatible with the P440 controller. Check that your network core has 10 GbE uplinks to use the dual X540 ports.
