The Patriot Burst Elite is a 2.5 inch internal solid state drive with 480GB of capacity. It uses a SATA III interface and TLC memory components for consumer workloads. The drive fits standard laptop and desktop bays that accept a 7.00mm z-height. No DRAM cache is present; the controller relies on Host Memory Buffer.

DRAM-less design with HMB and 7mm height

The DRAM-less architecture uses Host Memory Buffer to maintain responsive performance while keeping power draw low. A 7.00mm profile allows installation in thin ultrabooks as well as conventional 2.5 inch drive cages. SATA III connectors are the same ones used by mechanical drives, so no adapter or bracket is required. TRIM support and wear leveling help sustain write endurance over time.

400TB written endurance rating

The drive is rated for up to 400TB of total bytes written, a figure that reflects the TLC NAND and controller wear management. Sequential reads reach up to 450 MBps and writes up to 320 MBps. Random 4KB performance reaches 40,000 IOPS for both read and write. MTBF is quoted at greater than 2,000,000 hours.
