The SonicWall TZ 470 is a wired desktop security appliance designed for small organisations and distributed enterprise sites that need consolidated threat protection. It ships with a one-year Advanced Protection Security Suite covering gateway anti-virus, anti-spyware, intrusion prevention and DPI SSL inspection. Eight 1 GbE ports and two 2.5 GbE interfaces provide high-density connectivity for branch or campus deployments.

Sustained session capacity

The platform supports up to one million simultaneous sessions and a maximum of 2,500 users, allowing it to maintain inspection throughput under continuous multi-user load. Site-to-site VPN capacity reaches 150 tunnels while SSL VPN licenses cover up to 150 concurrent remote clients. Power draw peaks at 19.95 W across the 100–240 VAC input range, so thermal output remains predictable during extended operation.

Rack-free deployment

The compact 3.5 × 13.5 × 19 cm chassis sits on a desk or shelf without rails and weighs 0.83 kg, so physical installation is straightforward. Dual USB 3.0 ports and a console port are accessible on the front for local management or storage expansion. Zero-Touch Deployment automates initial configuration across multiple sites, reducing the chance of misconfiguration during rollout.
