North American 4G HAT

The WaveShare SIM7600A-H HAT adds LTE Cat 4 connectivity and GNSS positioning to Raspberry Pi boards and the Jetson Nano. It supports downlink speeds up to 150 Mbps on LTE-FDD bands B2, B4 and B12, making it suitable for deployments across the US and Canada. The module mounts on the standard 40-pin GPIO header and operates at either 3.3 V or 5 V via an onboard jumper.

Build integration

A CP2102 USB-to-UART converter is onboard for serial debugging and AT command testing over USB. An audio jack and decoder enable voice calls, while the voltage translator lets the board match 3.3 V or 5 V logic without external level shifters. The 40-pin header passes through unused GPIOs so other HATs or sensors can still be stacked.

Target users

Makers and engineers building North American IoT gateways, asset trackers or remote-monitoring nodes that need cellular data and multi-constellation positioning in one add-on. Builders targeting European or Asian bands, or those requiring 5G throughput, should look at a different module.

Domande su questo articolo

What limits the sustained data speed on this HAT?

The SIM7600A-H module uses LTE CAT4, which caps downlink at 150 Mbps.

How much heat or noise does the board add when running continuously?

The HAT has no fan or active cooling; it draws power from the host's 40-pin header and runs silently.

Which host boards and SIM card size does this HAT require?

It fits any Raspberry Pi with a 40-pin GPIO header — Zero, 2B, 3B, 3B+, 4B — or a Jetson Nano, and takes a standard nano-SIM (not included).
