The Dell PowerEdge R440 is a 1U rackmount server built for space-efficient data center environments. Dual Intel Xeon Gold 6130 processors provide 16 cores each at 2.1 GHz with 3.7 GHz turbo for demanding applications.

Storage controller limits and drive interface

The PERC H730P controller operates at 12 Gb/s and supports SAS and SATA drives with RAID levels 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 plus pass-through mode. Eight 2.5-inch bays are populated with 960 GB SATA SSDs running at 6 Gb/s. The controller includes a 2 GB battery-backed cache, but the 1U chassis restricts further internal drive expansion beyond the eight bays.

Dual redundant power and remote management

Two 550 Watt platinum-efficiency power supplies provide redundancy for continuous operation. Integrated dual-port Gigabit Ethernet handles network connectivity while iDRAC 9 Express enables remote monitoring and administration. The front bezel and ready rails are not included, so rack mounting hardware must be sourced separately for installation.
