The GW5508NPG records eight IP cameras at up to 8.0 megapixels each using H.265 or H.264 compression. Built-in PoE ports power every camera directly, so no separate switch is required. An embedded Linux system runs on a Hi3535 processor and stores footage on two SATA drive bays. The unit ships with 16 terabytes already installed.

160 Mbps recording bandwidth

The recorder accepts a total incoming stream of 160 megabits per second across all eight channels. This ceiling determines how many 4K cameras can record simultaneously at full frame rate. If the combined bitrate of the connected cameras exceeds this limit, some channels must drop resolution or frame rate to stay within the budget.

Two-bay hot-swap storage

Two tool-less SATA trays hold up to 8 terabytes each, giving the 16 terabyte maximum. Drives can be swapped while the NVR is running, so capacity can grow without downtime.
