This 1U rack server ships with a single Intel Xeon E5-2620 v3 six-core processor at 2.4 GHz and 16 GB of DDR4 ECC memory. Two 1 TB 3.5-inch SAS drives connect through an H240ar controller that supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60. Dual 500 W hot-swap power supplies provide redundancy. The chassis holds four large-form-factor drive bays and 24 DIMM slots for future expansion. No operating system is included.

Suits single-socket compute with room to grow

The configuration works for virtualisation hosts, database nodes or web tiers that start with one CPU and can add a second Xeon E5 v3 later. Twenty-four memory slots allow scaling up to the platform maximum when workloads demand it. Four 3.5-inch bays leave two empty slots for additional SAS or SATA drives. Buyers who need a second processor installed from the start or who require GPU acceleration should look elsewhere.

H240ar controller sets the storage boundary

The Smart HBA H240ar provides 12 Gb/s SAS and 6 Gb/s SATA connectivity with hardware RAID across all supported levels. It manages the two included 1 TB 7.2K drives and any further large-form-factor disks you add. If your deployment requires a different RAID feature set or a controller with cache backup, this server will not meet that requirement.

Yes. The board has 24 DDR4 slots, 12 per processor. Adding a second CPU simply unlocks the second bank; the existing 16 GB stays active.

How can I verify the H240ar controller sees both 1 TB drives at 6 Gbps after first boot?

Enter the H240ar BIOS utility (F8 during POST). The physical-drive list will show each 1 TB SAS drive negotiating at 6 Gbps link speed.
