Universal Drive Adapter

The LUOM SA28 connects 2.5 inch or 3.5 inch SATA and IDE hard drives as well as 5.25 inch optical drives to a computer through a USB 3.0 port. It supports SATA drives up to 10 TB and IDE drives of various capacities. The kit includes a 12V 2A power adapter and a 4-pin power cable for 3.5 inch IDE devices. An on/off switch and LED indicators provide drive protection and status visibility.

Upgrade From USB 2.0 Dock

This adapter replaces slower USB 2.0 drive docks or cables by delivering up to 5 Gbps transfer speed over USB 3.0 while remaining backward compatible with USB 2.0 and USB 1.1. The jump is worth it when moving large archives from legacy IDE or SATA drives where the higher bandwidth cuts cloning or backup time significantly. It also adds simultaneous operation for up to three drives, which single-drive docks cannot do.

Capacity And Headroom

The SATA interface handles drives up to 10 TB comfortably, making it suitable for modern high-capacity hard disks and SSDs. IDE support covers older 2.5 inch and 3.5 inch hard drives plus CD-ROM, DVD-ROM, CD-RW, DVD-RW and DVD+RW optical drives. The 12V 2A supply powers 3.5 inch mechanical drives reliably, but the adapter cannot power drives that exceed its current limit or require interfaces other than SATA or IDE.
