A 2 TB PCI-Express 5.0 x4 internal SSD with 2 GB DRAM cache delivering up to 14,900 MBps read and 14,000 MBps write for gaming, content creation and AI workloads
Options 2TB
The WD_BLACK SN8100 is a 2TB internal solid state drive built for consumer workloads that demand very high throughput. It uses the M.2 2280 form factor and connects through a PCIe 5.0 x4 interface with NVMe protocol. The drive includes 2GB of DRAM cache and is suited for gaming, content creation and loading large AI models.
The PCIe 5.0 x4 interface can deliver sequential reads up to 14,900 MB/s and writes up to 14,000 MB/s, with random performance reaching 2,300,000 read IOPS and 2,400,000 write IOPS. Active power draw is 6.5 W during reads and 7.0 W during writes, while idle power drops to 5 mW. The controller is rated for operation between 0 °C and 85 °C, so sustained loads may require motherboard or add-in cooling.
The 2GB DRAM cache helps maintain consistent performance across mixed workloads. Endurance is rated at 1,200 TBW with an MTTF of 1,750,000 hours. The drive ships without a heatsink, so the installer must ensure adequate airflow or a motherboard M.2 shield to keep temperatures within the specified operating range.

The 2TB model delivers 1200 TBW endurance and up to 14,900 MB/s reads; the 4TB version doubles endurance to 2400 TBW while keeping the same peak speeds, so choose 2TB for typical gaming and creative workloads or 4TB if you need maximum write lifetime.
That 14,900 MB/s is the maximum sequential read speed the controller can sustain on large-file transfers such as game-level loads or video-footage ingest; everyday mixed workloads will run lower, but the headroom keeps demanding tasks responsive.
PCIe 5.0 x4 provides the electrical lane bandwidth that lets the SN8100 hit its rated 14,900 MB/s reads and 14,000 MB/s writes; if the motherboard only supports PCIe 4.0 x4 the drive will still work but cannot reach those peak throughput numbers.
