USB 3.2 Gen2x2 MacBook SSD Enclosure
This enclosure accepts Apple proprietary 12+16 pin SSDs from 2013 to 2017 MacBook Pro, Air, iMac and Mac Pro models. It also supports Toshiba and OWC MacBook SSDs. An included M.2 adapter adds compatibility with NVMe drives. The USB 3.2 Gen2 interface delivers up to 20Gbps when the host supports Gen2x2.
Tool-free installation with thermal notes
The aluminium alloy shell opens without tools for drive insertion. A recessed slash pattern increases airflow contact area. The supplier notes that thermal adhesive stickers on the SSD improve heat transfer and that disabling disk sleep in both battery and power adapter settings helps thermal performance.
Dual drive support and speed ceiling
The native slot handles Apple blade SSDs while the M.2 adapter extends use to NVMe drives. Typical transfer rates reach 10Gbps over USB 3.2 Gen2, rising to 20Gbps only on Gen2x2-capable hosts. Systems limited to Gen2 will not achieve the higher throughput.
