Dual 10-core Xeon server for virtualisation

The PowerEdge R730 is a 2U rack server equipped with two Intel Xeon E5-2660 v3 processors running at 2.6 GHz with a 3.3 GHz turbo frequency. Each CPU provides 10 cores, giving 20 cores total for parallel workloads. The system ships with 256 GB of DDR4 2133 MHz registered ECC memory across 24 DIMM slots, expandable to 1.5 TB. It targets midsize and large enterprises running data warehouses, VDI, databases or HPC data nodes.

Check drive bays, network uplinks

The chassis provides eight 2.5-inch SAS/SATA hot-swap bays backed by a PERC H730 1 GB controller supporting RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 plus pass-through. Two 300 GB 10 K SAS drives are installed. Networking uses an Intel X520/I350 daughter card delivering two 1 GbE and two 10 Gb SFP+ ports. Remote management is handled by iDRAC 8 Enterprise. Ready Rails and a front bezel are included; verify rack depth compatibility for the 2U form factor.

Redundant 750 W platinum supplies cool

Dual hot-swap 750 W platinum-efficiency power supplies provide N+1 redundancy for the fully populated processor and memory configuration. The PERC H730 controller includes a battery-backed cache module. System fans scale with CPU and drive load; acoustic output rises under sustained compute or heavy I/O but remains within typical data-centre limits for a 2U platform. Power draw varies with workload intensity and memory population.
