The Dell PowerEdge R730 is a 2U rack-mount server fitted with two Intel Xeon E5-2650 v3 processors running at 2.3 GHz. Each Xeon delivers ten cores and 25 MB cache, giving twenty cores total for virtualisation or database workloads. Memory is at the platform maximum of 768 GB, so no further DIMMs can be added. The eight drive bays offer generous raw capacity for large arrays, while the PERC H730 handles RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60. Dual 495 W power supplies provide redundancy. The network card supplies two 10 GbE and two 1 GbE ports.
