The Dell PowerEdge R730XD is a 2U rack server built for storage-dense workloads. It ships with a single Intel Xeon E5-2609v3 six-core processor running at 1.9 GHz and 64 GB of DDR4 memory. The chassis supports up to two processors and twenty-four DIMM slots for future expansion.

12-Bay SAS Storage with H330 RAID

Twelve 3.5-inch hot-plug bays accept SAS or SATA drives; three 2 TB 7.2K SAS drives are installed. The Perc H330 controller manages RAID 0, 1, 5, 10, 50 and 60 across a maximum raw capacity of 52 TB. Memory is capped at 64 GB with the current single-processor configuration.

Dual 750 W Power and PCIe 3.0 Slots

Redundant 750 W hot-swap power supplies maintain uptime during a module failure. Six PCIe 3.0 slots plus a dedicated RAID slot provide room for additional network or accelerator cards. A daughter card delivers four 1 GbE ports, with optional 10 GbE upgrades available. iDRAC8 handles remote management. The H330 controller supports SAS and SATA drives. The installed 2 TB drives run at 6 Gbps; older 3 Gbps disks will operate at their native speed when added to the same backplane.

During boot the iDRAC8 and BIOS display the processor model, core count and total memory. You can also review the System Event Log in iDRAC for any memory or CPU alerts.
