This new Dell PowerEdge T440 is a 5U tower server that supports up to sixteen 2.5-inch hot-swap drive bays. It ships with two Intel Xeon Gold 5120 processors, each running at 2.2GHz with a 3.2GHz turbo frequency and 14 cores. The system includes 32GB of DDR4-2400 ECC registered memory across four modules and a Dell PERC H730P 2GB 12Gb/s SAS/SATA RAID controller. Dual 750W platinum power supplies provide redundant hot-swap power.

Suited for virtualization.

The dual 14-core Xeon configuration and 16 memory slots supporting up to 1TB DDR4 make this server appropriate for VMware ESXi, Hyper-V or Proxmox VE virtualization clusters. Integrated iDRAC 9 Express enables remote lifecycle management. Buyers who need GPU-accelerated compute or a pre-populated storage array should evaluate alternative configurations. The front bezel and ready rails are not included with this unit.

PERC H730P RAID controller with 2GB cache

The installed Dell PERC H730P controller supports RAID levels 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 plus pass-through mode for SAS and SATA drives. Its 2GB battery-backed cache accelerates write performance for database and virtualization workloads. The chassis provides eight 2.5-inch drive trays installed, leaving eight additional bays available for expansion. Dual-port gigabit Ethernet is integrated on the motherboard.
