Enterprise 5U tower server

The Dell PowerEdge T440 is a 5U tower server designed for virtualization, database hosting and file storage. It ships with two Intel Xeon Silver 4116 processors, each running at 2.1GHz with a 3.0GHz turbo and 12 cores. The system includes 64GB of DDR4 ECC registered memory across 16 slots and a PERC H730P storage controller with 2GB cache.

Upgrade from single-socket or smaller tower

This dual-socket configuration replaces single-processor towers when workloads demand more cores and memory channels. The jump is worth it when virtualization density, database concurrency or software-defined storage tasks exceed the capacity of a 10-core or single-socket platform. The 16-bay 2.5-inch chassis also supersedes 8-bay systems that limit local storage expansion.

Build integration with redundant power and remote

The server requires a rack conversion kit for standard rack deployment and uses LGA 3647 sockets with a maximum of two processors. Dual 750W platinum power supplies provide hot-swap redundancy. iDRAC 9 Express handles remote management, while integrated dual-port Gigabit Ethernet and PCI Express slots accommodate additional networking, RAID or GPU cards. The front bezel and ready rails are not included.
