It ships with two Intel Xeon Silver 4116 processors, each running at 2.1GHz with a 3.0GHz turbo and 12 cores. The system includes 64GB of DDR4 ECC registered memory across 16 slots and a PERC H730P storage controller with 2GB cache.

Upgrade from single-socket or smaller tower

This dual-socket configuration replaces single-processor towers when workloads demand more cores and memory channels. The jump is worth it when virtualization density, database concurrency or software-defined storage tasks exceed the capacity of a 10-core or single-socket platform. The 16-bay 2.5-inch chassis also supersedes 8-bay systems that limit local storage expansion.
