The Dell Precision 5530 is a 15.6-inch mobile workstation built around an 8th Gen Intel Core i9-8950HK six-core processor. It includes 16 GB of DDR4 memory, a 1 TB PCIe NVMe M.2 SSD, and a dedicated NVIDIA Quadro P2000 GPU with 4 GB of GDDR5 video memory. Thunderbolt 3 and HDMI 2.0 provide the only video

External display connectivity relies on a single Thunderbolt 3 port with four lanes of PCIe and one HDMI 2.0 port. Two USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-A ports handle peripherals, while a headphone and microphone combo jack covers audio. The Thunderbolt 3 interface supports data and video simultaneously, but total bandwidth is shared across the connected devices. No additional video outputs or legacy display ports are present on the chassis.

Internal upgrades are limited to the M.2 slot

The 1 TB SSD occupies the primary M.2 slot; adding a second drive requires a compatible M.2 module and an available slot, which is not guaranteed on every unit. Memory can be expanded up to 32 GB of DDR4 using the two SO-DIMM sockets if both are free. The CPU and Quadro P2000 are soldered, so graphics performance cannot be changed after purchase. Opening the chassis requires Torx screwdrivers and careful ribbon-cable routing, and reassembly must maintain the dual-fan thermal path to avoid throttling.
