The Fractal Design FD-A-CAGE-001 is a black HDD cage kit built for Define 7 Series and compatible Fractal Design cases. It lets owners trade a 120 mm fan slot or existing cage position for additional drive capacity. The accessory includes the cage and four 6-32 screws for secure installation. Builders who need more bays without changing cases will find it fits directly into the mounting pattern.

Type-B tray compatibility

This cage accepts up to two Fractal Design Type-B 3.5 inch or 2.5 inch drive trays, which are sold separately. It mounts to any standard hard-drive cage position or to a 120 mm fan location using the 105 x 105 mm screw spacing. Without the matching Type-B trays the cage cannot hold drives, so buyers must source those trays before the upgrade works.

Two-drive limit with top 2.5 inch option

Each installed cage holds a maximum of two drives in the Type-B trays and adds a third 2.5 inch mounting point on top for a single SSD. That gives three drives per cage when the top slot is used, but no more trays fit in the main slots. Users planning larger arrays will need multiple cages and available fan or cage positions to scale further.
