The Khadas Transparent DIY Case is a polycarbonate enclosure with an optional iron plate designed to house VIM single-board computers. It suits makers, developers and educators who want a clear, stackable chassis that keeps every primary port and button reachable while exposing status LEDs and the infrared receiver. A clip-on GPIO lid gives quick access to the pin header for prototyping or HAT attachment.

Port Access and Cooling Limits

All main ports, buttons, the power LED and the activity LED remain accessible through the transparent walls, and the infrared remote works without line-of-sight issues. The case accepts the 3705 and 3004 cooling fans, though the 3705 unit requires raising the top cover by one to two millimetres using spacers. VIM4 loses its Micro HDMI inlet, and Edge-V needs a slot cut for the second USB-C port on the bottom.

Stacking Capacity and Board Support

Removable top and bottom covers allow multiple units to be stacked for cluster applications, with the iron plate adding 69 grams of ballast and the case plus screws adding 43 grams. The enclosure fits VIM1, VIM1S, VIM2 v1.4, VIM3 v11 and higher, and VIM3L v12 and higher, along with both the new and original VIM heatsinks. The original Edge board is not supported.
