80W DC Linear Power Supply 12V
The myVolts 80W DC Linear Power Supply delivers 12V at up to 5A for audio speaker upgrades, NAS, CAS, PC and HiFi equipment. It uses a two-stage filtering design to provide clean linear power. The finished board measures 80 by 100 by 42mm and requires an AC12V input. Wires are not included in the package.
AC12V Input Constraint
This unit operates from an AC12V source, so it cannot connect directly to mains voltage without a separate step-down transformer. The linear regulation and two-stage filtering reduce output noise for sensitive analogue circuits. Maximum continuous output current is 5A at 12V. Builders must supply their own wiring and ensure the AC source can deliver sufficient current for the 80W rating.
Replaces Noisy Switching Adapters
The supply upgrades equipment currently powered by generic switching adapters that introduce high-frequency ripple into the signal path. Linear regulation eliminates switching artefacts, benefiting low-level audio stages and noise-sensitive storage or network gear. The improvement is most audible when the existing adapter is the dominant noise source; systems limited by other interference will show less change.
