The Samsung 970 EVO Plus MZ-V7S250B/AM is a 250GB internal solid state drive built for consumers who need fast NVMe storage. It uses a PCIe Gen 3.0 x4 interface and Samsung V-NAND 3-bit MLC memory controlled by the Phoenix controller. The M.2 2280 form factor fits standard desktop and laptop slots.
In normal use the drive draws a maximum of 30 mW when idle. Samsung Dynamic Thermal Guard monitors temperature and adjusts performance to keep the SSD within safe thermal limits without added noise. The 512MB Low Power DDR4 cache helps sustain throughput during typical workloads.
Samsung Magician software provides firmware updates, performance benchmarking and secure erase tools for ongoing optimisation. Hardware AES 256-bit full disk encryption supports TCG/Opal V2.0 and IEEE1667 standards for data protection. The drive is rated for 150 TBW and a 1,500,000 hour MTBF.

Insert the drive at an angle into the motherboard M.2 slot, press it flat and secure it with the single screw; the step often missed is enabling the NVMe controller or PCIe 3.0 x4 mode in BIOS so the drive appears at full speed.
The drive has a 150 TBW endurance rating and 1.5 million-hour MTBF; no user maintenance is required, but once written data approaches 150 TB the NAND cells near their warranted limit and the drive should be replaced.
The Dynamic Thermal Guard throttles performance when the controller temperature rises during prolonged writes, so thermal throttling is the first limit you will encounter before the 150 TBW endurance is reached.
