KEHIPI PoE M.2 HAT+ NVME Adapter for Raspberry Pi 5 2230/2242

SKU CH-NHCS-01ZC9

Adds NVME M.2 2230/2242 storage and 802.3af/at PoE to Raspberry Pi 5 via 16-pin PCIe with 5 V 4.5 A power output

  • Boots Raspberry Pi 5 from NVMe SSD via 16-pin PCIe
  • Powers Pi and SSD through single Ethernet cable using 802.3af/at PoE
  • Delivers up to 4.5 A at 5 V with 25 W total budget
  • Accepts 2230 and 2242 M.2 drives for flexible storage choice
  • Stackable 40-pin GPIO header keeps expansion options open

NVMe HAT+ for Raspberry Pi 5

The KEHIPI PoE M.2 HAT+ adds a 16-pin PCIe M-key slot to a Raspberry Pi 5, accepting 2230 or 2242 NVMe SSDs. It draws power from the 40-pin GPIO header and includes an EEPROM for automatic board configuration. Makers and embedded engineers can boot the Pi 5 directly from solid-state storage.

Sustained operation with PoE and cooling

The board delivers up to 4.5 A at 5 V, with a combined 12 V and 5 V ceiling of 25 W, while an onboard fan manages thermals during continuous NVMe traffic. Power over Ethernet follows 802.3af/at, supplying both data and power through a single cable so the system remains stable under prolonged I/O load.

Gen2 and Gen3 PCIe limits

The adapter operates in Gen2 or Gen3 mode depending on the installed SSD and Raspberry Pi 5 firmware. Builders needing Gen4 throughput or drives larger than 2242 will find the interface does not support those configurations. No wireless or Bluetooth circuitry is present on the HAT+.

Vragen over dit artikel

How much power does the HAT+ fan and PoE circuitry draw when the Raspberry Pi 5 runs continuously?

The board delivers up to 4.5 A at 5 V with a combined 12 V and 5 V limit of 25 W, so sustained load stays within that envelope.

What must I already own to boot from an M.2 drive using this adapter?

A Raspberry Pi 5, a 2230 or 2242 NVME M-key SSD, and a PoE switch or injector compliant with 802.3 af/at.

Will the 40-pin header on this HAT+ still let me stack my older HATs on top?

Yes, the standard 40-pin GPIO stackable header is exposed, so existing HATs can be mounted above this board.
