The DELL PowerEdge T430 is a 16-bay 2.5-inch rack server fitted with two Intel Xeon E5-2683 v4 processors running at 2.1GHz and 192GB of DDR4 ECC registered memory. It targets organisations that need dense local storage and dual-socket compute in a 2U form factor for virtualisation, database or file-serving workloads.

PERC H730 controller and iDRAC8 Express

The bundled PERC H730 SAS controller enables hardware RAID across the 16 drive bays using SATA or SAS media, while the iDRAC8 Express licence provides out-of-band remote management for power control, console redirection and firmware updates without an operating system. Two 1100W power supplies and a dual-port 1GbE 332T adapter are also installed.

384GB DDR4 ceiling and 2.5-inch bay constraint

Maximum memory capacity stops at 384GB of DDR4, so further expansion requires replacing existing modules rather than adding to empty slots. The 16 front bays accept only 2.5-inch drives, limiting raw capacity per bay compared with 3.5-inch alternatives, and the integrated graphics offers no discrete GPU option for compute acceleration.
