This 400 GB SAS solid-state drive is built for mixed-use workloads in enterprise servers. It connects over a 12Gb/s SAS interface and fits a 2.5-inch SFF bay with a smart carrier for hot-swap operation. The unit draws 4.20 W while operating and is sold new from HPE.
Hot-swap carrier eases installation
The smart carrier allows the drive to be inserted or removed while the server stays powered on. Slide the carrier into the bay until the latch engages; no cables are required because power and data route through the backplane. The most common issue is a partially seated carrier, which leaves the drive invisible to the RAID controller.
Verify SAS backplane and 2.5-inch bay
Confirm the server provides a 2.5-inch SFF slot wired for 12Gb/s SAS and that the backplane supports hot-swap SAS devices. Check that the RAID controller or HBA lists this part number in its compatibility matrix. A SATA-only backplane will not recognise the drive.
