The board fits PCIe 5.0, 4.0, 3.0 and 2.0 slots at x16, x8 or x4 electrical widths, so it works in a wide range of desktop platforms. SATA-based M.2 drives are not supported, and the SSD must be initialised and formatted before the OS will recognise it.

Upgrade Path for PCIe 5.0 NVMe Storage

The adapter replaces the need for a native M.2 slot and lets you move an existing NVMe drive to a new system or add a second drive when all onboard slots are full. Full PCIe 5.0 bandwidth of 16 GB/s is only reached when the CPU, motherboard slot and SSD all support PCIe 5.0; otherwise the link runs at the speed of the slowest component.
