This new Dell 2 TB internal hard drive spins at 7 200 RPM and connects through a 3.5" SAS 6 Gb/s interface. It uses a 128 MB cache with 512n formatting and ships with an R-series caddy for direct installation in compatible Dell bays. The mechanism includes Drive Self Test, Background Media Scan and Perpendicular Magnetic Recording.

Suited for servers and workstations that accept

This drive fits systems built for 3.5" SAS 6 Gb/s bays and the supplied R-series tray. Builders whose chassis or controller only support other physical interfaces or form factors will need a different drive. The 7 200 RPM spindle speed targets general-purpose bulk storage rather than high-IOPS workloads.
