This 64 GB kit contains four 16 GB DDR4-2400 registered ECC modules built for Dell PowerEdge R430, R530, R630, R630 XL, R730, R730 XL, R730xd, R730xd XL, R830 and R930 servers. It targets administrators who need to expand capacity on those platforms without mixing memory types.

Registered ECC DDR4-2400 limits

The modules run at 2400 MHz with CL17 latency at 1.2 V and use a dual-rank 2Rx4 organisation. Registered ECC memory cannot be mixed with unbuffered or load-reduced DIMMs; all installed sticks must share the same ECC type. If faster or slower modules are added, the system clock drops to the slowest speed present.

288-pin DIMMs without heat spreaders

Each stick is a standard 288-pin DDR4 DIMM without a heat spreader, so it fits the tight DIMM slots found in 1U and 2U rack chassis. The registered buffer adds a clock cycle of latency but reduces electrical load on the memory controller, allowing the full four-module population per channel that these servers support. Not suitable for desktops or laptops that require non-ECC unbuffered memory.
