The Dell OptiPlex 5040 Mini Tower is a new business desktop built around an Intel Core i5-6500 processor that runs at 3.2 GHz and boosts to 3.6 GHz. It ships with Windows 10 Professional pre-installed and includes a DVDRW drive. The compact black chassis fits standard office environments and provides ten external USB ports for peripherals.

8 GB DDR3 memory and 500 GB SATA SSD

The system comes with 8 GB of DDR3 1600 MHz RAM installed across four DIMM slots, supporting a maximum of 32 GB for heavier multitasking. A 500 GB 6 Gb/s SATA solid-state drive provides the primary storage. Drive bays include one 3.5-inch bay, two 2.5-inch bays and one 5.25-inch slimline bay for additional drives.

Integrated graphics and expansion limits

Intel HD Graphics 530 integrated graphics drive up to three active displays through one HDMI 1.4 port and two DisplayPort 1.2 connections. Expansion slots comprise two full-height PCIe x16 slots, one full-height PCIe x1 slot, one full-height PCI slot and one M.2 2280 slot. The 240 W power supply constrains the graphics cards and add-in cards that can be supported.
