The Dell PowerEdge M620 is a blade server that fits inside an M1000e enclosure and ships with two Intel Xeon E5-2697 v2 processors running at 2.7 GHz with twelve cores each. It arrives with 384 GB of DDR3 memory installed and two 1.8 TB SAS hard drives in its 2.5-inch bays. This configuration targets data-centre workloads that demand high core counts and large memory capacity in a dense form factor.

Memory and Storage Ceilings

The system uses DDR3 SDRAM and supports a maximum of 768 GB across its slots, so the installed 384 GB leaves room for expansion within the same generation. Storage connects through a Dell PERC H310 SAS controller that handles the two included 1.8 TB drives and any additional 2.5-inch SAS devices up to the chassis limit of two drives. Network throughput reaches 10 Gb when the enclosure is equipped with a v1.1 midplane.

Enclosure Dependency

This blade cannot operate on its own; it requires a Dell BladeSystem M1000e enclosure for power, cooling and I/O connectivity. Buyers who do not already own or plan to purchase that enclosure will not be able to deploy the server. The integrated iDRAC7 Enterprise module provides remote management once the blade is seated in a compatible chassis.
