The Dell PowerEdge R640 is a 1U rack server built for scale-out data centre workloads. Two Intel Xeon Gold 6148 processors deliver 40 cores at 2.4 GHz with 3.7 GHz turbo. Sixty-four gigabytes of DDR4-2666 registered ECC memory populate four of twenty-four slots. Eight 600 GB 10K SAS drives and a PERC H730P controller provide high-speed local storage.

Controller, networking and remote management

The H730P 2 GB cache controller supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50, 60 and pass-through modes with battery-backed write caching.
