The PowerEdge R640 packs two Xeon Silver 4116 processors into a single rack unit. Each CPU runs at 2.1 GHz with 12 cores and reaches 3.0 GHz under turbo. The configuration targets workloads that need high core density in minimal rack space.

512 GB DDR4 with 3 TB headroom

Sixteen 32 GB registered ECC modules fill half the 24 memory slots, leaving room to grow. The PERC H730P controller manages eight 300 GB 10 K SAS drives and supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60. Storage capacity tops out at the installed drive count unless larger SAS or SATA drives are added.

Quad-port 1/10 GbE networking and remote management

An Intel X520/I350 daughter card provides two 1 GbE and two 10 Gb SFP+ ports without consuming a PCIe slot. Dual 750 W platinum power supplies deliver full redundancy. iDRAC 9 Enterprise gives complete out-of-band control. Rails and bezel are included for immediate rack installation.
