The PowerEdge R730 is a 2U rack system built around two Xeon E5-2683 v3 processors running at 2.0 GHz with a 3.0 GHz turbo frequency. Twenty-eight cores and 512 GB of DDR4 registered ECC memory across sixteen 32 GB modules provide the raw throughput needed for heavily threaded workloads such as database clusters, virtual desktop infrastructure and high-performance computing nodes.

Sustained load behaviour with PERC H730 and 10 GbE

Under continuous demand the dual CPUs maintain elevated clocks while the PERC H730 controller with 1 GB cache manages RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 across up to eight 2.5-inch SAS or SATA drives. The Intel X520/I350 daughter card delivers two 10 Gb SFP+ and two 1 GbE ports, keeping storage and network pipelines full during extended batch jobs or VDI storms without throttling back to burst-only speeds.
