The Dell PowerEdge R730XD fits twelve 3.5-inch hot-plug bays in a 2U chassis and ships with a single Xeon E5-2609v3 six-core processor at 1.9 GHz plus 64 GB of DDR4 memory across the 24 DIMM slots. It targets workloads that need local capacity over raw compute density.

Dual 750 W supplies and front-to-rear airflow

Redundant hot-swap power supplies keep the system running if one unit fails while the 2U form factor uses front-to-rear cooling across the drive cage and CPU heatsinks. The H730 RAID controller adds its own 1 GB cache module which draws additional power under heavy write loads.

The Perc H730 provides hardware RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 across the three included 300 GB 15 K SAS drives and any future additions. iDRAC8 Express gives out-of-band console access and lifecycle firmware updates without an operating system installed.
