Ready-to-deploy 2U rack server

The Dell EMC PowerEdge R740 arrives with dual Intel Gold 6126 processors, each running at 2.6GHz with 12 cores and 19.25M cache. A total of 128GB DDR4 memory is installed across eight 16GB PC4-2666 modules. Four 7.68TB SAS SSDs sit behind an H730P RAID controller, while an Intel X550 network daughter card delivers dual 10Gb and dual 1Gb RJ45 ports. The system includes iDRAC9 Enterprise remote management, redundant 1100W power supplies, sliding rails, bezel and power cords.

Verify rack space and expansion needs

Confirm your cabinet can accommodate a 2U chassis with 8x 2.5" drive bays, of which four are already populated. The server offers up to eight PCIe Gen 3 slots for additional controllers or accelerators; ensure any add-in cards fit the available slot lengths and power budgets. Network infrastructure must support RJ45 copper connections at 10Gb and 1Gb speeds. No optical drive bay is present, so installation media must be delivered via USB, network boot or the iDRAC virtual console.

Included accessories simplify first boot

Sliding rails enable tool-less rack mounting, and the bezel provides a clean front appearance without an LCD panel. Redundant 1100W power supplies are pre-installed with matching power cords, so no separate PDU cables are required. iDRAC9 Enterprise licensing is active, granting full remote KVM, virtual media and lifecycle automation without extra keys. The H730P controller arrives configured for the four installed SSDs; additional drives can be added to the remaining bays and managed through the same controller.
