Sustained load behaviour

Dual 750 W platinum power supplies and redundant hot-swap cooling keep both CPUs at their 2.6 GHz base clock during long-running workloads. The 3.7 GHz turbo is available when thermal headroom allows, but extended multi-threaded jobs will settle at the rated frequency. The H730P controller’s 2 GB cache and battery-backed write-back help maintain consistent storage latency under continuous mixed I/O.

Installation and common issues

Tool-less ReadyRails mount the 2U chassis in standard four-post racks without extra hardware. Memory must be installed in matched sets per Dell’s population rules; mismatched DIMMs will halt POST. The PERC H730P requires its battery to be seated and charged before RAID arrays become write-back capable. Network daughter card seating should be verified if SFP+ links fail to negotiate.
