Dual Gold 6126 12-core server

The Dell PowerEdge R740 is a 2U rack server equipped with two Intel Gold 6126 processors running at 2.6 GHz with twelve cores each. It ships with 512 GB of DDR4 memory arranged in sixteen 32 GB modules. Four 800 GB SAS SSDs are installed behind an H730P RAID controller. The system targets organisations that need dense compute and fast local storage in a standard rack footprint.

Redundant 1100 W power and iDRAC9 management

Dual 1100 W redundant power supplies keep the platform running during a module failure. The iDRAC9 Enterprise controller provides full remote console, power control and hardware monitoring over the network. An Intel X550 network daughter card adds two 10 Gb RJ45 ports and two 1 Gb RJ45 ports for high-throughput and management traffic. No optical drive is fitted, reducing internal heat load.

Eight 2.5-inch bays and eight PCIe Gen 3 slots

The chassis offers eight 2.5-inch drive bays, leaving four empty bays for additional SAS SSDs. Up to eight PCIe Gen 3 expansion slots accommodate GPUs, extra network adapters or storage controllers.
