The Dell PowerEdge R740 is a 2U rack server equipped with two Intel Gold processors. It ships with 64GB of DDR4 memory installed across four modules. Four 2.4TB 10K SAS drives provide high-speed storage out of the box. This configuration suits organisations deploying virtualisation hosts or database nodes.

H730P Controller and PCIe Expansion

The integrated H730P RAID controller manages the installed SAS drives without consuming a PCIe slot. Up to eight PCIe Gen 3 slots remain available for additional network cards, accelerators or storage controllers. Dual 1100W redundant power supplies support the full chassis load. The 8-bay 2.5-inch chassis leaves four drive bays open for future capacity growth.

iDRAC9 Enterprise and Included Hardware

iDRAC9 Enterprise enables remote firmware updates, power cycling and console access over a dedicated management port. The shipment includes a front bezel without an LCD panel, sliding rails for rack mounting and power cords. No optical drive is fitted, freeing the front bay for alternative use.
