The Dell PowerEdge R740xd chassis holds twelve 3.5-inch drive bays and ships with two Xeon Gold 5218 processors at 2.3 GHz, 16 cores each with 22 MB cache, plus 768 GB of DDR4 ECC registered memory. A PERC H730P RAID controller and a 10 GbE 562T dual-port adapter are installed, while storage drives are not included so you can populate bays with the SATA capacity you need.

This configuration fits archives, backup targets, surveillance repositories and cold-data tiers where raw terabytes matter more than flash latency. The iDRAC9 Enterprise licence provides full out-of-band control for lights-out operation. The 12-bay LFF chassis is the single constraint that decides whether this server matches your plan; each bay accepts a SATA drive so maximum raw capacity scales with the drives you choose.
